Basketball team beats number one ranked Helias
Friday night, Rolla High’s boys basketball team beat the number one team in the state, Helias. The Bulldogs beat the Crusaders 60 to 46 points. Senior Shane O’Brennan felt that this was a great game.
“It was a hard fought game against a really good team with Helias, who was number one in the state at the time,” O’Brennan said.
According to O’Brennan, the student section, dressed in USA red, white and blue, played a major part in the energy at the game that night.
“The atmosphere in the gym was crazy. The student section couldn’t have been any better. They definitely got us more pumped for the game. I’d like to say they were our sixth man that game,” O’Brennan said.
Senior and Pep Club leader London Clift also believes Pep Club creates an energizing atmosphere.
“I think the support that Pep Club brings makes a big difference. Shane O’Brennan had referred to us as the sixth man,” Clift said.
According to Clift, Pep Club is doing well in achieving its goal of more student support of the athletic teams.
“It is so great when our school comes out [and] supports each other. It makes me so happy and I love seeing it. That is my whole goal with Pep Club,” Clift said.
