As basketball begins, the returning juniors and seniors are excited to make this season unforgettable.
“I hope to get a lot of playing time and help the team the best I can. As a team, I hope we win districts,” junior Michael Janke said.
Returning this season as a senior, David Cox’s goals are primarily the same as Janke’s.
“The goals for the team are to win 20 or more games and advance to state; which is a big possibility. Individually [I would like to] dunk four or five times this season and one over somebody. I can’t wait, it’s going to be a fun season,” Cox said.
The team also expects great things to come from the newest members.
“Our new sophomores have a lot of talent to offer. I think as the season rolls along they will help the team a lot off the bench,” Janke said.
Sophomore Aaron Froehlich shares similar opinions with Cox and Janke.
“[I would like to] win districts and do whatever I can to help the team win. I think they [the sophomores] will bring a lot of energy and depth off the bench,” Froehlich said.
The team worries about the loss of the basketball players from the class of 2011.
“Seniors, we will miss. But some sophomores we are counting on and hopefully they will step up to do some big this season,” Cox said.
Janke has the utmost respect for and faith in the seniors this season.
“We lost strong leaders but our new seniors can step up and fill the role,” Janke said.
