It’s November, and that means it’s the Winter sports season. Last year the Boy’s Basketball team had a rough season, although its young team gained a lot of Varsity experience. The team has all but two of its varsity players returning for the 2010-2011 season.
“With all their returning varsity players, we’ll be a lot stronger team this season than we were last year,” junior, Mike Miller said.
Although there is a mix of players on the team, there is confidence among the players that they will be able to come together for the season.
“Most of us have played together since fourth grade, so we get along and play together really well,” junior, Keegan Garner said.
There is room for improvement from last season, and players on the team have set their goals high for the year.
“This year we want to be above .500, and I really want to beat Glendale,” Miller said.
The team will have to work hard, and face obstacles as they attempt to achieve these goals.
“We’re going to have to move the ball really quickly this year, because we don’t have a lot of size on the team,” Garner said, “we’re going to have to do that if we want to win districts.”
The bulldogs feel they have good leaders in their seniors, even though there are much fewer seniors than in previous years.
“We’ll have good senior leadership this season, even though we only have two seniors this year,” sophomore, Michael Janke said.
With the season close at hand, the team can feel the first game quickly approaching.
“I’m excited about the season, but I’m not looking forward to the conditioning at tryouts,” Garner said.
