Driving, putting, swinging, chipping-the season has finally come to a close for the girl’s golf team, but spirits are still high among three outstanding junior golfers. Lori Hoertel, Gina Monaldi, and state qualifier Briana Choi, have all seen themselves improve over the course of this season.
“I have been able to drive further this season, though I did break my driver. But I’ve also gotten better at putting,” Hoertel said.
Monaldi wasn’t as certain as to what she had improved on initially. However after some thought she found her answer.
“I definitely think my driving has improved from last year, I feel a lot stronger about my drives than I ever have before,” Monaldi said.
Being a state qualifier isn’t an easy feat, but Choi believes her progress this season allowed her to advance.
“I’ve been playing a lot better than last year. My drives are better and my scores have just been better all around. I feel good about my improvement,” Choi said.
Hoertel also believes that the connection between players grew stronger over the course of the season and allowed for the team to really come together.
“Team bonding and team unity really helped improve our spirits, and probably our scores, this season. Before there was a feeling of disconnect, and now there’s a stronger sense of equality between all of us,” Hoertel said.
