Taylor Swift called out on Twitter
Taylor Swift has had many feuds with celebrities in the past including Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, Nicki Minaj, and Demi Lovato. However, all of these celebrity feuds have painted Taylor Swift as the victim until Kim Kardashian and Kanye West showed her true colors.
At the 2009 VMA’s, Taylor Swift won the “Video of the Year” award for her song, “You Belong With Me” over Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”. When Swift went up to the stage to accept the most prestigious award of the night, an outraged Kanye West took the mic and said the famous words, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” After this incident, Taylor’s career skyrocketed, and from then on out, everyone thought of Taylor Swift as “America’s Sweetheart”, and Kanye West was known as an uncontrollable jerk.
At the 2015 Grammys, it was revealed that Swift and West had made up. Then in February of 2016, West released the song, “Famous”. In the song, West raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**** famous.” When Swift got word that this was said in his song, she immediately took to social media to tell the world how she felt, claiming she was not informed that those lyrics were in the song. Once again, Taylor Swift was the victim of the damage done by the uncontrollable jerk that is Kanye West.
Later that day, West posted a series of tweets telling everyone that Swift was made aware of the lyrics.
“I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings…I’m not even gon’ take credit for the idea… it’s actually something Taylor came up with …” Kanye tweeted. Everyone ignored Kanye West’s tweets because he doesn’t have the greatest track record in the media.
In July of 2016, after months of the world criticizing Kanye, a new episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians premiered. In the episode, Kim speaks to her mom and sisters, distressed, because her husband is receiving so much hate. Not even an hour after the episode finished, Kim Kardashian posted the conversation between Taylor and Kanye on Snapchat to her millions of followers. In the video, it is clearly Swift’s voice. “Umm, yeah I mean go with whatever line you think is better. It’s obviously very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice,” Swift said. “And you know, if people ask me about it I think it would be great for me to be like, ‘Look, he called me and told me the line before it came out. Jokes on you guys, We’re fine.’ You guys want to call this a feud; you want to call this throwing shade but right after the song comes out I’m going to be on a Grammys red carpet and they’re going to ask me about it and I’ll be like, ‘He called me.’ It’s awesome that you’re so outspoken about this and be like, ‘Yeah, she does. It made her famous.’ Its more provocative to say ‘might still have sex…’ It’s doesn’t matter to me. There’s not like one [line] that hurts my feelings and one that doesn’t,” Swift said. #KimExposedTaylorParty and #TaylorSwiftIsASnake started trending on Twitter minutes later. Twitter is right; Taylor Swift is a snake.
