On Oct. 28, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Rolla High School will be covered in gore and booming with the frightened screams of children and adults alike. Tickets for this haunting event are ten dollars, and participants are encouraged to wear a costume to keep the Halloween spirit.
After two years of participating in this night of fright, junior Addison Salazar is now the organizer. With a new Leadership advisor and student organizers, Haunted High is going to be a new and refreshingly scary experience.
“This year is kind of like our remodeling year. Right now, everything that you saw last year, there will be none of that. [There is going to be a] new route; there’s going to be speakers [and] going to be more blood [and] strobe lights. Everything is going to be completely different,” stated Salazar.
With their $700 allowance, Salazar and the Leadership class are going to make Haunted High a real life horror film.
“So everything is going to be based off of Movies this year: Smile, Lights Out, Halloween, Kills, The Purge…and even more,” stated Salazar.
Haunted High’s goal isn’t just to scare students out of their wits; it’s also used to raise money which will be donated to three different causes.
“Half of this money is going to go to the Backpack program, and then forty percent is going to go to Leadership, and then ten percent is going to our little scholarship, but the main thing [goal] is to just make as much money as possible to donate,” said Salazar.
