National Art Honor Society hosts Freshmen Rock Scavenger Hunt
National Art Honor Society, also known as NAHS, is currently hosting their first-ever Rock Scavenger Hunt Sept. 26 through Sept. 30. NAHS is a student-driven club at Rolla High School and provides local community service by making art, doing fundraisers, and providing fun through different art-related activities.
NAHS’s current rock scavenger hunt is being held for the freshmen to participate in at RHS. NAHS members have hidden rocks in the upper commons, the library, and the practice gym. President Meimona Ibrahim and vice president Katie Pratz of NAHS helped organize the event.
“The rocks are hidden in the upper commons, the practice gym, and the library. We were going to hide them everywhere all over the school. But then, after going through the hallways during the first week of school, we realized that the hallways were a really bad place to hide the rocks,” said Ibrahim.
The painted rocks don’t have all of the same designs though. Each painted rock has a different painted design on each of them; there’s even a ¨golden¨ special painted rock.
“The painted rocks are different from each other,” stated Ibrahim. “You can still get first, second, third, and fourth place in the rock hunt but if you find the ¨golden¨ rock that’s a separate rock.”
Once a rock is found, return the painted rock to art teacher, Connie Shoemaker in room 106. After the scavenger hunt ends, Shoemaker will count how many painted rocks per student found. There will be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th winner. Buffalo Wild Wings gift cards will be given to the winners of the rock scavenger hunt. Freshmen, go out there and have fun hunting the painted rocks!
