Extended Rolla School Closure
Early this afternoon, an official statement was released by Superintendent Dr. Aaron Zalis outlining the district’s plan for COVID-19 prevention moving forward. Previously, school was scheduled to resume on Monday, Apr. 6, following what the school treated as an extended spring break plus a single week of online education. Zalis’s statement announces he will be “extending the closure as of today through Thursday, April 30, 2020.” He confirmed that the current food distribution program is expected to remain in place, but future adjustments are possible.
Zalis acknowledges the sense of uncertainty surrounding the current crisis, and notes in the statement that plans are “fluid and subject to change at any time.” Presently, he encourages students, parents, and teachers to remain as flexible and relaxed as possible as administrators receive further guidance from local and state authorities as well as the CDC.
