How to register to vote in Missouri

If you’re seventeen and a half and a US and Missouri resident, you are now eligible to register to vote. Voting is a very important responsibility as an american citizen and most people don’t realize just how easy it is to register.

There are four surprisingly simple ways to register in Missouri: send in a virtual application to www.sos.mo.gov, printing an application and mailing it to your local election authority (Phelps County Clerk’s Office is Phelps County’s authority), registering in person at your local election authority (Phelps County’s election authority is also the County Clerk’s office), or requesting an application to be mailed to your address.

When you receive confirmation that your application is complete, your next step is to know what to bring with you when you go vote in your first, and every, election. To receive a ballot you must have an unexpired form of I.D. such as a driver’s license, or a military I.D. card with a photograph on it.

A responsible voter also must know who and what they are voting for. This information is available on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website. The general Election taking place on November 6th, will include bills such as the legalization of medical marijuana in Missouri, the possible increation of minimum wage to twelve dollars an hour, and an increase on gasoline tax. Missouri will also be electing a new member of the U.S. Senate, a Missouri Auditor, and more.

Be sure to register and go out and cast your vote!
