Rolla High School is starting this year with a new wing, new principal, new cell phone policy, and now a new way to spend your Pride time Fridays. Advisory, which applies to sophomores, juniors and seniors, is a short lesson on some of the things students will need to know for their futures in high school and college.
Each Friday, students will go to the classroom assigned under the Advisory class on their schedule divided by grade level. Sophomore Advisory gives students an orientation into the high school as they learn about lunch, pep rallies and handling their schedules. Juniors make a gradual transition from learning more about their high school career to starting to plan for their futures. Senior Advisory teaches students about life after graduation, such as filling out different applications, preparing for college and getting students ready for the financial responsibilities of living on their own.
The goal of the class is to prepare students for what is approaching, whether it is another two years of Rolla High School or leaving to start their lives by themselves.
