On Sunday, March 4, Kohl’s opened its doors, bringing new jobs and more retail availabilities to the community.
“I think the town was definitely asking for change,” store manager Trevor Harrison said.
With only two other large retail stores in the town previously, Kohl’s set its eyes on Rolla.
“We knew that Kohl’s has been expanding obviously. We’re a growing company, so we look at communities, like Rolla, and see a lot of promise there,” Harrison said. “The community wants Kohl’s and we want to come into the community.”
The juniors department, one of the large departments in Kohl’s can directly appeal to student looking for a new place to find clothing.
“The juniors department is a hot department for us. It probably fits in tune with what [students] probably look for,” Harrison said.
The store has also brought in jobs, with some students already hired. The positions in the store are filled but there is still an opportunity for work.
“We are still accepting applications,” Harrison said. “We don’t have any open positions though, but we do keep them on file.”
Along with providing a new outlet for clothing, the store is aimed at pleasing customers.
“We offer exceptional value, which is a good thing for a highschooler on a limited budget,” Harrison said. “We offer the latest trends at the greatest prices.”
