On Saturday, May 4, prom guests filled the Havener Center ballroom. Hosted by the junior class, the dance was a rousing success with over 500 tickets sold. The dance was a nod to 1940s culture with a theme of “The Golden Age of Hollywood.” The banquet hall was decorated with black and white photos of figures from the past and classic movie posters. Guests could snap a vintage-style portrait as they entered. Prom organizer Jessie Kirkbride noted that the atmosphere was a “relaxed, positive vibe” compared to past years. Toward the end of night, Kathryn Hirtz and Ryland Gibson were crowned Prom Queen and King.
Within the theme, Kirkbride wanted to showcase the prom courts from the late 30s to late 50s to highlight that each prom is about creating a memorable event.
“Each group feels like a ‘golden age.’ I hope that for each group, especially the graduates,” Kirkbride said.
